It’s not often that we can have 2 wide receivers get drafted in the top 5 but we may have it in the 2012 NFL draft. Justin Blackmon and Alshon Jeffery are 1 and 1a in this year’s class. Jeffery, in particular, has the size that has the NFL scouts drooling.

Jeff Fuller out of Texas A&M has been steadily climbing up the boards and we currently have him fourth on our list. Texas A&M is having a great season and Fuller and QB Ryan Tannehill should get plenty of national exposure.

Expect plenty of changes to this list as the year progresses, but here is our early, early look at the top wide receivers.

Here’s our early top 5:
1. Justin Blackmon, Okla St (6-1, 208) – Excellent route runner with good hands. Not overly tall but makes up for it with sharp separation skills. Blackmon has that ‘it’ factor that wide receivers need. A 2010 DUI may come back to haunt him for teams that push character.
2. Alshon Jeffery, South Carolina (6-4, 233) – Excellent size. Tough and durable. Great hands and adequate speed. If South Carolina can compete for a SEC title that should get him the exposure he needs to compete for a top 5 draft pick.

3. Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma (5-11, 185) – A little on the short side for his position. Speed can make up for the lack of size though. Does have an arrest in 2007. He will need to prove character isn’t an issue. Also, mostly a slot receiver which will diminish his draft value.
4. Jeff Fuller, Texas AM (6-3, 215) – Route running and speed isn’t as impressive as those ranked above him. Arrested in the beginning of 2010. Also, injuries are an issue.
5. Mohammed Sanu, Rutgers (6-2, 215) – Former safety in high school. Decent hands and route running but will need to improve.
